RUTH ENGLAND has always had a passion for travel and for the natural world.
After graduating with a degree in photography and film making from the University of Westminster in London she spent several months living with the Iban tribe in the jungles of Borneo, shooting stills documenting how logging was impacting their traditional way of life.
Ruth first learned the television business as a reporter at a London news station in the United Kingdom.
She was later recruited to read the daily national news by Channel 5, one of the UK's major television networks.Since then, she has pursued a successful freelance television career in England and the United States, mainly in news, travel and adventure programming, working on over 90 different foreign shoots everywhere from Rwanda to the Arctic Circle. For three years, she was host of Wish You Were Here, one of the UK's top travel shows. In addition, she traveled around the world as a reporter for National Geographic Channel's Explorer's Journal. She has also hosted a variety of popular factual, reality and chat shows. She has had various articles published in ABTA Magazine (The Travel Association). Ruth was born in a rural village in Worcestershire, England. She is married to former Green Beret Captain, Mykel Hawke, and they have a son.
Ruth recently co-starred with her husband, Mykel Hawke, on the Discovery Channel's hit survival series MAN WOMAN WILD. She is currently co-starring with Mykel in the new Travel Channel series LOST SURVIVORS, set to begin airing Fall 2013.
